Winning is Fun

Today is a good day. It is a day that I can announce as our first official “win” as a mobile PR shop. And it’s an exciting client at that.
The Camano Island Arts Association (CAA) has been leading the prolific arts community of the area for more than a decade with its annual Studio Tour. Attracting visitors from the Puget Sound and Idaho to British Columbia and Europe, the event is unique in that in provides keen insight into the artist’s processes as well as products. Visitors tour the actual studios of these amazing artists to see what goes into their art, how it’s created and what inspires it.
The CAA also has extensive outreach in education as the artists are committed to providing local youth with the opportunity to explore and hone their artistic skills and ideas. In an age where arts funding in education is often the first to get cut from tight school budgets, particularly in rural areas like Camano Island, the dedication of groups like CAA are indispensable for our youth.
Work begins in October to prepare for the Mothers Day weekend Studio Arts Tour. And this year, the tour will for the first time expand to the weekend following Mother’s Day as well.
This client is exciting for me not only because its my first addition as a mobile PR shop, but because it combines two passions of mine: community non-profit work and art. I can’t wait to see what we do together to take CAA and its Studio Tour to the next level.
But for now, to borrow a phrase from one of my favorite PR pros, Scott Janzen: “I’m doing the happy dance.”
