Pink plus or minus.

When I grow up…

PPM_GrowUp

I am breaking all the rules again.

Throw all the adages my way…from “the cobblers kids” to “do as I say.” I’ve been oh so remiss with my pinkplusorminus as I focus so much time and energy on building blogs and social media strategies for others.

I’m doing everything I tell them not to do. Neglecting my digital presence and getting lazy with my online communications.

The sliver lining of course is that it means I’m actually building some new clients. I mentioned Sandy Puc, a locally-based photographer who travels the world teaching the art and business of photography. I’m in the process of taking her 12 websites, 4 blogs, 5 FB accounts, 3 Twitter accounts and making them work harder with less quantity and more quality.

It’s a lot of work. But it’s fun.

I’m building out some social media plans for the Camano Arts Association and am looking forward to our January launch.

Then there’s the case of Mark T. Spot…the business fitness training site I’m building with some local marketing agencies.

While that all happens, I’m still working hard with Johannes to build out the multimedia side of the business. It’s all requiring us to take a long, hard, serious look at our business and what we want it to be when it grows up.

Lately, the pull of building a multimedia shop is fairly compelling. Johannes has always been the guy every organization needs. He knows about so many areas of building out tools and solutions, from video, online, and traditional (Swiss-based) design.

Do we become a multimedia shop when we grow up?

He’s been doing a good deal of pro-bono work with missionary organizations and other humanitarian groups. I’m not sure how many of my readers believe in having a calling, but this is as close to one as I can imagine.

Do we become a non-profit organization when we grow up?

Right now, I’m just trying to focus on doing good work with what’s in front of me, looking for the right opportunity that might help us make these decisions, and remembering to bake as much as possible before my New Years’ Resolutions kick in.

And maybe go ice skating at least once before 2010.

So if I’m not jumping on the blog as often as I have been in the past, it’s because I’m too busy trying to figure out what the heck I’m doing here anyway. At the same time, it all feels rather like the calm before the storm.
